COVID Certificate for vaccinations outside the Netherlands
Have you been vaccinated abroad and would you like to obtain a proof of vaccination in the Netherlands to generate a COVID Certificate? Please be aware of the following rules.
To receive a Dutch proof of vaccination, your vaccinations must be registered in the Netherlands. If you received your vaccination(s) here, this was done automatically. If you were vaccinated abroad, there are four different scenarios.
Scenarios if you are fully vaccinated
1. Fully vaccinated outside the EU
You can register your vaccination(s) in the Netherlands if you:
- are a Dutch citizen, or
- live in the Netherlands, or
- were vaccinated in Aruba, Curaçao or Sint Maarten.
If one of these situations apply to you and you want to register your vaccinations, you must visit the office in Utrecht. You can make an appointment for this by calling +31 (0)30 800 28 99. Our colleagues on the phone will provide you with more information on the address details and documents that you need to bring with you to the appointment.
After registering, you can obtain a COVID Certificate, which you can upload into the CoronaCheck app.
2. Fully vaccinated in another EU country
You will receive a COVID Certificate (DCC or Digital COVID Certificate) from the country where you received your vaccinations.
3. One vaccination in the Netherlands and one in another EU country
The country where you received your second vaccination is responsible for your COVID Certificate (DCC or Digital COVID Certificate).
It is not yet possible to obtain a COVID Certificate if you received your first vaccination in another EU country and the second vaccination in the Netherlands. Please follow the website of the Dutch government for the latest updates regarding this subject.
4. Non-EMA-approved vaccines
If the vaccine you received has not yet been approved by the EMA, you cannot get a proof of vaccination in the Netherlands. You can, however, get a COVID Certificate with a negative test result or by providing proof that you have recovered from COVID-19.
Getting your second vaccination in the Netherlands
Did you receive your first vaccination abroad (either in the EU or somewhere else), and do you want to get your second vaccination in the Netherlands? You can apply for your second vaccination using this special form (available in Dutch and English).
If the first vaccine you received has not yet been approved by the EMA and you wish to get your second vaccine in the Netherlands, please contact GGD Amsterdam - Public Health Service to discuss your options. You can reach GGD Amsterdam on +31 (0)20 555 5202.
