Can I have a pregnancy test carried out by you?
If you are unsure as to whether you might be pregnant, you can make a Sense appointment with us (free for young people under the age of 25). A pregnancy test may then be carried out.

Do you also carry out a smear for cervical cancer?

No, we don't do that. But your GP and other places will offer these. I only want to undergo a HIV test. Can I have this carried out here?

A HIV test is offered in combination with a test for other STIs. So no, it is not possible to have just a HIV test carried out.

Can I come to the STI Outpatient Clinic for a rapid HIV test?
An HIV test is a possible component of an extensive test for STIs in the Outpatient Clinic. If the client has specific symptoms or has received a warning from someone else that he/she may be infected, the rapid HIV test is used. The results of the rapid HIV test are known within 45 to 60 minutes. If there is no specific reason to perform the rapid test, the standard HIV test will be performed and the client can view the results on the internet after three to ten days.

I need to undergo a HIV test for an insurance policy or visa, can I have this carried out at the Public Health Service?
No. We do not issue HIV results for these purposes.

Can I receive the results in printed form for my insurance company or visa?
No, that is not possible. You will need to visit your doctor if you would like your results in this form.
