Cost and reimbursement of travel vaccinations
We charge a consultation fee for each visit and each person.
If vaccination requires several doses, you also pay a charge for follow-up appointments. In addition, you pay for the vaccinations, malaria prescription, vaccination booklet and any other products you buy from us.
You can pay in cash or by debit card. We do not accept credit cards. If you come to an evening consultation, you can only pay by debit card.
Reimbursement by health insurer
Travel vaccinations and advice are not covered by basic insurance. If you do not have supplementary insurance, you always pay us directly for the consultation, vaccinations and malaria prescription. You pay for the malaria tablets at the pharmacy.
Some health insurers reimburse these costs under the supplementary insurance package. This varies depending on the insurer and the package. So, always check whether your insurer will reimburse the costs before coming to the GGD.
Supplementary insurance with Achmea
If you have supplementary cover with an insurance company that is part of Achmea*, the charges for consultation, standard vaccinations and malaria tablets will be reimbursed. How it works:
- We claim the costs of consultations and vaccinations directly from Achmea. To do this, we need to see valid proof of identity for everyone coming to the appointment. So, also including your children. If you cannot show proof of identity, we can help you, but you will have to pay the charges yourself.
- The prescription for the malaria tablets is sent to eFarma. They will deliver the tablets to your home and invoice you by email. You must pay this invoice yourself and then claim reimbursement from Achmea.
- Achmea will pay for the yellow vaccination booklet if you have supplementary insurance.
*Achmea brands include: Zilveren Kruis Achmea, Pro Life, Interpolis and De Friesland. ZieZo Zilveren Kruis supplementary insurance packages do not reimburse travel vaccinations.
Achmea has various supplementary policies. Always check your own policy conditions before coming to the GGD.
