Ben jij geboren tussen 1996 en 2003? Ben jij een man en heb jij in de afgelopen zes maanden seks gehad met mannen? Jij kunt helpen met een onderzoek naar HPV.
Wat houdt het onderzoek in?
In dit onderzoek wordt gekeken hoe vaak HPV-infecties vóórkomen bij mannen die seks hebben met mannen (MSM) die geboren zijn tussen 1996 en 2003. Dit doen we door te meten hoeveel HPV-infecties MSM hebben vóór HPV vaccinatie en hoeveel HPV-infecties MSM hebben twee jaar na de HPV vaccinatie. Verder vergelijken we MSM die de HPV vaccinatie hebben gekregen met MSM die de HPV vaccinatie niet hebben gekregen.
Wat gebeurt er tijdens de studie?
Tijdens het reguliere soa consult geven we je meer informatie over het onderzoek en kijken we of je in aanmerking komt. Het is aan jou om te beslissen om wel of niet mee te doen.
Als je besluit deel te nemen, krijg je de HPV-vaccinatie (die bestaat uit 2 doses met een tussenpoos van 6 maanden). We zullen je vragen om lichaamsmateriaal af te staan en een korte vragenlijst in te vullen.
Besluit je niet mee te doen maar wil je toch de HPV-vaccinatie krijgen dan kan dat ook. De verpleegkundige zal dan verder gaan met het reguliere soa consult en je krijgt de HPV-vaccinatie.

Were you born between 1996 and 2003? Are you male and did you have sex with men in the past six months? You can contribute to a study on HPV.
What is the study about?
We study how often HPV infections are found in men who have sex with men (MSM) born between 1996 and 2003. We do this by measuring how many HPV infections MSM have before HPV vaccination and how many HPV infections MSM have two years after HPV vaccination. Furthermore, we compare MSM who received the HPV vaccination with MSM who did not receive the HPV vaccination.
What will happen during the study?
During the regular STI consultation the nurse will give you more information about the study and check if you are eligible. You can then decide to participate or not.
If you decide to participate, you will receive the HPV vaccination (which consists of 2 doses 6 months apart). We will ask you to provide several biological samples, and complete a short questionnaire.
If you decide not to participate but you still want to receive the HPV vaccination that is also possible. The nurse will continue with the regular STI consultation and you will get the HPV vaccination.
